The “Heart of Darkness” is a story about a thoughtful sailor by the name of Marlow who takes a journey to meet a reputed man called Kurtz. He is employed as a riverboat captain and faces a lot of inefficiency and brutality in the company’s station on his journey to Africa up to Congo. It expounds on the suffering of the natives of Congo who hare exposed to torture by the company’s agents who overwork them. The relationship between the whites and the black people living in the Congo is portrayed as unfriendly in the novel.
