How to End an Essay (with Sample Conclusions) - wikiHow
Either 2 or 3 body paragraphs is enough to develop ideas and show your ability to organise paragraphs. With 2 or 3 body paragraphs, you can get a high score. When you read your essay question, you plan your ideas and then decide how many body paragraphs to have (2 or 3). You should not decide this before you enter the test. The number of body paragraphs will be decided by the type of question and your ideas. See my model essays on this page:
How to write a C1 level essay for the Cambridge Advanced exam
to wrap up your essay in a tidy package and bring it home for your reader. It is a good idea to recapitulate what you said in your in order to suggest to your reader that you have accomplished what you set out to accomplish. It is also important to judge for yourself that you have, in fact, done so. If you find that your thesis statement now sounds hollow or irrelevant that you haven't done what you set out to do then you need either to revise your argument or to redefine your thesis statement. Don't worry about that; it happens to writers all the time. They have argued themselves into a position that they might not have thought of when they began their writing. Writing, just as much as reading, is a process of self discovery. Do not, in any case, simply restate your thesis statement in your final paragraph, as that would be redundant. Having read your essay, we should understand this main thought with fresh and deeper understanding, and your conclusion wants to reflect what we have learned.
I have one quick question on the discussion essay – is it OK if I share my opinion at the end? I think it looks more logical to put first 2 paragraphs on the discussion of the subject and then my opinion at the end.
Otherwise, it is a bit misleading if I share different poinsts of view together with my opinion at the beginning and then continue with discussion of “others”. What is the right approach as per examiners? I saw many different approaches, so I am a bit confused.

I am interested about the question from Kamlinder:
“Discussion Essay statement:–
Some people believe that there should be fixed punishments for each type of crime. Others, however, argue that the circumstances of an individual crime, and the motivation for committing it, should always be taken into account when deciding on the punishment. Discuss both these views and give your opinion.”
I believe the first thing we should do to answer this by paraphrasing the question. Yet I wonder, since It is a quite long sentence and the question divide into 2 main part, do we have to combine those two into 1 paraphrase sentence OR it’s ok to make 2 sentence before we arrived to our opinion?

Took my IELTS few days ago. The Speaking section didn’t go well, I could speak for around 30 sec only for the cue card, apart from that the rest was ok. The LRW was good enough.
Your blog has been really helpful. For the writing task 2, the task was to discuss two views, and that was very similar to the model essay posted by you under the agree /disagree model answer.
How much will the cue card task affect my speaking scores?
